The Vermont Cancer Center is a comprehensive clinical and research cancer center at the University of Vermont (UVM), with close ties to the UVM College of Medicine and Vermont's academic medical center, Fletcher Allen Health Care. Founded in 1791, UVM is among the oldest, continuously operated state universities in the country and is Vermont's flagship university. Vermont Cancer Center members hail from many colleges and schools within the University, and many also serve as physicians and nurses at Fletcher Allen.

The UVM College of Medicine provides the Vermont Cancer Center with laboratory and administrative space as well as financial support, while high-quality cancer care is provided to patients through the patient care areas at Fletcher Allen, including Hematology/Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Dermatology, and the Cancer Patient Support Program. The partnership between the UVM College of Medicine and Fletcher Allen also provides an excellent training program for educating the next generation of physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.

Fletcher Allen Health Care is both a community hospital and, in partnership with the University of Vermont, the state's academic medical center. Serving more than one million people in the State of Vermont and in northeastern New York State, Fletcher Allen provides a full range of services covering every major area of medicine and is home to the state's only Level I Trauma Center, specialized children's hospital, and the most advanced CT and MRI imaging systems available. With our partners at Fletcher Allen Health Care, the Vermont Cancer Center is also developing multi-disciplinary treatment centers for specific cancers in order to enhance and provide a single point of access and care for all cancer patients. Multidisciplinary clinics include the Breast Care Center, Upper GI, Lung, and Melanoma (skin cancer).
